The College of Materials, Metallurgy and Chemistry, Jiangxi University of Science and Technology was founded on the 12th March 2019. It consists of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, the School of Metallurgical Engineering, the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, and the Institute of Engineering Research”.

The College is renowned for its strong and experienced staff. There are 228 faculty members, including 31 professors and 58 associate professors. It currently has eight undergraduate specialties in metallurgical engineering, metallic materials engineering, chemical engineering and technology, inorganic non-metallic materials engineering, applied chemistry, new energy science and engineering, materials chemistry, and material physics. It has the right to grant PhD degrees in metallurgical engineering, and the master's degree in metallurgical engineering, materials science and engineering, chemical engineering and technology. The College currently has three national-level research centres (National Copper Smelting and Processing Engineering Technology Research Centre, National Ion-Type Rare Earth Resources Efficient Development and Utilization Engineering Research Centre, National Quality Inspection Centre of Tungsten and Rare Earth Products).

In the past three years, the College has undertaken more than 100 National Key R&D Programs, National Program on Key Basic Research Projects (973 Program), National High-tech R&D Programs (863 Program), and National Natural Science Foundation Programs, more than 200 provincial and ministerial research projects, and more than 280 projects  entrusted by enterprises, costing over 100 million RMB; it has published over SCI and EI 450 papers, and more than 150 patents; 20 provincial and ministerial-level science and technology prizes have been granted.
